More information has been unveiled about Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel, with star Margot Robbie detailing the film’s plot during CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas.
As reported by Variety, Robbie dropped the tease during a sizzle reel of Warner Bros.’ 2027 slate at CinemaCon, stating that the Ocean’s 11 prequel will take place at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, and won’t centre on Danny Ocean like the past films, but instead on his parents.
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows, his parents,” Robbie teased. “You’ll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
Robbie will star in the upcoming prequel alongside Bradley Cooper, presumably as Ocean’s parents, with the latter also pulling triple duty, serving as the film’s lead, its writer, and its director, following the departure of the project’s previous helmers, Lee Isaac Chung and Jay Roach. Robbie is also producing the movie under her company LuckyChap, with Carrie Solomon working on its screenplay.
Apart from the prequel, the Ocean’s franchise will also see a revival with an upcoming sequel, which stars returning faces George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts as Danny Ocean, Linus Caldwell, Rusty Ryan, Basher Tarr, and Tess Ocean, respectively. The gang will get together once more as an older but wiser heist crew, with original director Steven Soderbergh returning to helm the sequel, although no release window has been announced yet.
Meanwhile, the Ocean’s 11 prequel is expected to start filming this year and is set to launch in cinemas on 25 June 2027.
