The deadly Mortal Kombat tournament is about to begin in Warner Bros’ much-anticipated sequel, Mortal Kombat II, and this time, familiar and new fighters are joining in on the fight to determine the fate of Earthrealm when the franchise’s brutal next chapter launches in cinemas on 7 May 2026.
Helmed by returning director Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat II finally kicks off the titular tournament hyped up by the original 2021 film. The sequel also introduces a new leading hero, too, with Karl Urban taking on the role of legendary fighter Johnny Cage from the famed game franchise. And a new hero is exactly what humanity needs to combat the villainous Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford), who threatens not just the freedom of Earthrealm, but all the realms, too.
Co-starring familiar faces from the first film including Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Josh Lawson (Kano), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Mehcad Brooks (Jax), Chin Han (Shang Tsung), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion), Max Huang (Kung Lao), Joe Taslim (Bi-Han), and Lewis Tan (Cole Young), alongside newcomers like Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), Tati Gabrielle (Jade), Damon Herriman (who returns from voicing Kabal in the first movie to now play Quan Chi), Ana Thu Nguyen (Sindel), and CJ Bloomfield (Baraka), the sequel is shaping up to be an all-star ensemble of iconic Mortal Kombat fighters.
