Monitors have become sharper, crisper, and more jaw-dropping with each passing year, and 2022 is no exception. There are always new features to keep track of, and a bevy of choices when you’re looking for upgrades that will give you the best Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video or HBO binge-watching experience. Or if you simply want to have the best PC or console gaming experience with 2022’s hot games such as Elden Ring or Dying Light 2.
During the recent CES 2022, we were introduced to a whole range of new monitors that are planned for release over the year. We have compiled a list of them along with their most noteworthy specs:
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NB
There are displays and screens, and there is this thing of beauty. This monitor keeps that wide, generous screen of the 2021 edition, while improving its specs and introducing smart features. We don’t know the full specs for this 49-inch dual QHD ultra-wide monitor yet, since it was only unveiled in January, but we do know that it will have Mini LED, and will have a 1000R curvature. The smart features will also allow gamers to access cloud gaming, videos on demand, and more.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85
This is the first-ever 4K 240Hz gaming monitor. The Odyssey Neo G8 is a 32-inch display that has a 1000R curvature as well, and uses Quantum Mini LED. The model has two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4. This is a next-gen monitor that comes with many of the latest technologies for those after the cutting edge.
Samsung Odyssey G8QNB
This is Samsung’s 34-inch QD-OLED display with 175Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time. The 1800R curvature is gentler than a 1000R curvature, but still able to achieve the added immersion. With its ultra-wide QHD resolution and 5.9mm thickness, this is not just a thin gaming monitor, it’s thin while boasting all the high-end features one would want in a 2022 monitor. Details are scarce for now as this monitor hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s one to keep an eye out for.
LG UltraGear 32GQ950
This new UltraGear monitor is a 31.5-inch display with a Nano IPS panel offers a 3840 x 2160 resolution with a native refresh rate of 144Hz with a 160Hz overclock feature. The adaptive sync VRR feature for both NVIDIA and AMD keeps the frame rate high, with a maximum of 1ms G2G response time. Also, with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 support, it’ll be able to work at 4K and 120Hz with the latest game consoles.
LG UltraFine Display Ergo AI 32UQ890
This 32-inch 4K display is the first monitor that’s able to detect the user’s posture and adjust its position accordingly. Its other specs are not announced yet, but safe to say, this one feature, if it works as intended, is going to address a pain point that often goes overlooked.
LG UltraFine Display Nano IPS Black 32UQ85R
This monitor is designed for artists, graphic designers, video editors, and live streamers. It’s a 32-inch 4K UHD display, and is LG’s first Nano IPS Black monitor. It has a 2000:1 contrast ratio with highly accurate black tones and general colour accuracy that creatives need.
LG DualUp Monitor Ergo 28MQ780
This display has a unique aspect ratio of 16:18, offering a 2560 x 2880 resolution designed for multi-tasking. This single monitor is made for split-screen work, which allows users to easily and comfortably work with multiple windows at once without having to invest in multiple monitors. The ergonomic stand also maximises desk space and doesn’t get in the way for workers who need a lot of table space.
Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED
This is a 34-inch curved gaming monitor sporting the crisp visuals of a QD-OLED display. Its 3440 x 1440 resolution with 175Hz refresh rate combines OLED technology with high refresh rate, and does share a few similarities with the above-mentioned Samsung Odyssey G8QNB. It also has true 0.1ms G2G response time, and it’s clearly a monitor aimed at those who want a new visual powerhouse for their rig.
BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U
The BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U 4K Gaming Monitor presents a solution for gamers of every group, including those who’ve laid claim on next-gen consoles. For starters, the monitor is compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via HDMI 2.1, delivering a refresh rate of 120Hz at 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160), which is higher than the usual 60Hz count. Its 32-inch screen size strikes a good middle ground between being sufficiently big for cinematic viewing, and modest enough to catch all the action within your field of vision. Find out more here.
MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD Xbox Edition
The MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD is a flat 32-inch Rapid IPS display boasting a 3840 x 2160 resolution and 16:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio. The 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and quantum dot technology add to the overall quality of the monitor. While not an overt dazzler, for gaming and movie watching purposes, this monitor occupies a spot as the reliable crowd-pleaser.
MSI Optix MAG274QRX
This 27-inch Rapid IPS display boasts a QHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. It is NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, and as an added quality-of-life boost, comes with a five-way OSD navigation joystick. This monitor also comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4a, headphone jack, and USB Type-C port.
MSI Optix MAG271QCP
This is a 27-inch VA gaming monitor with a 1000R curvature and QHD resolution. It also has a 165Hz refresh rate and is AMD FreeSync Premium certified. It comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports with CEC, a DisplayPort 1.2a, and a headphone jack.
MSI MEG ARTYMIS 341 MiniLED
This is the world’s first Mini LED display that supports an 800R curvature. This 34-inch VA monitor has 165Hz of refresh rate, with a resolution of 3440 x 1440, and AU Optronics’ AMLED (Adaptive Mini LED) display technology. The aggressive curvature signals that it’s designed for complete immersion while delivering the best possible visuals.
Acer Predator X32
This 32-inch premium monitor comes with a 160Hz refresh rate, Mini LED local dimming, 4K UHD, and G-Sync Ultimate. Basically, it is built for the gamer who plays action-packed fast-paced games that constantly bombard the screen.
Acer Predator X38S
This 37.5-inch display has a gentle 2300R curvature and a 3840 x 1600 resolution. It has up to 170Hz overclocked with 144Hz native refresh rate, and comes with G-Sync Ultimate. As for ports, it has two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, a headphone jack, four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and a Type-B port.
AOC AGON AG485UD
This is a 48-inch OLED screen with 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It has 0.1ms G2G response time, and support for adaptive sync for both NVIDIA and AMD. This monitor also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, which makes it compatible with next-gen consoles running at the highest settings.
