With its vast library of titles, it’s easy to understand how Netflix grew to become a world-leading streaming entertainment service. The industry giant might have first started out stronger in the film and television selections, but its trove of both existing and original anime has been increasing over time, even snagging for itself an ever-growing community of fans.
It’s certainly great news, then, that more is on the way. At the Netflix Anime Lineup Presentation 2019-2020 in Tokyo, the team announced a slew of new entries for the upcoming anime season. Set to feature original titles, the list will include the likes of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.: Reawakened, Levius, GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045, Japan Sinks: 2020, and EDEN, among many others.
“Netflix has been focused on building a strong slate of anime shows since 2017. In the past year, viewing for Japanese original anime has grown over 90% bringing joy to anime fans both in Japan and beyond,” shared Taiki Sakurai, Chief Producer, Anime, Netflix. “We aim to produce even more shows the world has never seen with some of the world’s best talent.”
The event was graced by industry veteran Hiroshi Kamiya (Attack on Titan‘s Levi Ackerman, Trafalgar Law in One Piece) – who is also currently the most popular seiyuu in Japan – as well as Nobunaga Shimazaki from Netflix Original Levius.

Netflix has had their fair share of hits and misses, but a growing library of titles is always welcome. In addition to the above, fans can also look forward to the new Pacific Rim anime, which will sport a standalone story from its movie counterpart.
