Zara Drops New PlayStation Kids Sneakers… And Kratos Doesn’t Approve

There’s something about Zara and doing sneaker collaborations with iconic video game brands.  They just… don’t mesh well. The company’s earlier take on Pokémon heels was… underwhelming, to say the least. But it looks like it’s improved somewhat with the latest collaboration with Sony PlayStation (though not by much).

Out of the blue, Zara teamed up with the video game giant to release a new pair of PlayStation-themed kids sneakers. And if we have to pinpoint just why these silhouettes just don’t rub us the right way, it’s probably due to how strangely it’s shaped.

Sporting a design inspired by the original PlayStation 1, these sneakers have a suede grey upper with a black trim. Most strikingly, the iconic PS1 logo is slapped onto the tongue, while a strap bearing the equally-iconic triangle, circle, cross, and square seen on controllers can be seen just below the tongue.

Black-and-white PlayStation pull tabs adorn the tongue and back heel segments, while the heel area itself sports the PS1’s round Power button. A white midsole runs the majority of the sneaker, which wraps around a small air bubble at the heel to provide additional cushioning.

We don’t know about you, but Kratos definitely wouldn’t see Atreus rock a pair of these, that’s for sure. Also, it might be for the better that these don’t come in adult sizes. We just can’t fathom why Nike hasn’t collaborated with PlayStation since the awesome PG-2s back in 2018.

But in any case your interest is piqued enough to check out a pair for your little ones, then these PlayStation sneakers are available at the Zara US online store for US$50.
