Xbox Partners With FRE Customs & Footlocker For Awesome Video Game Kicks At Gamescom 2019

As Gamescom 2019 gets underway, fans that are in-person at Cologne, Germany, or all over the world can expect plenty of gaming news. That is not all, however, as sneakerheads have reasons to be excited as well as Xbox is showing some custom sneakers at the show.

Partnering up with FRE Customs and Footlocker, this collaboration consists on seven one-of-a-kind designs that feature titles like Gears 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Battletoads, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Bleeding Edge, Forza Horizon 4, and Minecraft Dungeons. They are all realised with iconic silhouettes from footwear icon Nike, Adidas, Vans, and Puma.

Both the Gears 5 and Minecraft Dungeons sneakers are of the Vans Sk8-Hi variety. A deep red tone adorns the canvas upper, with a “BOUND BY BLOOD” tagline on the heel coupled with Gears 5 on the midsole. The Minecraft Dungeons variant comes in bright yellow and blue, finished off with an embossing of the Redstone Monstrosity mob on the ankle.

Forza Horizon 4 gets the perfect pairing with Puma’s Replicat-X, also a collaboration with tire-makers Pirelli. Tread patterns from Formula-1 tires are used, together with familiar stripes of Microsoft’s racer, and finished with a checkered PUMA formstrip. The Battletoads also get a PUMA design, with the PUMA Thunder X Mercedes AMG Petronas now a pink and green pair, mirroring the colourful nature of the brawler.

Both the Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Cyberpunk 2077 get the Nike treatment with the Nike Air Max 720. The iconic Xbox first-person shooter gets olive and gold highlights, while Cyberpunk 2077 has an Air Max 720 Saturn boasts bright yellow and red amidst its zips, straps, and transparent Air sole unit.

Last but not least, Bleeding Edge puts its stamp on the Adidas Continental 80, with a distinct Maeve design of spray-painted purple and cyan finish.

All of these exclusive sneakers can be found at Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse, through August 24, 2019 with giveaways planned among guests each day. The rest of the world can only admire them from afar, or inevitably head to eBay shortly after.

If you are interested, there are also plenty of Adidas collaborations with well-known pop culture icons such as Naruto and the Beastie Boys, as well as the superheroes of the Marvel universe.
