Seagate announced its collaboration with Lucasfilm back in November 2021, and we finally got our hands on the shiny new Beskar ingot inspired drives. And of course, we couldn’t resist whipping out Mando and Grogu (Thanks Hasbro) for some photo fun. After all, the overall design is based on the rare material used in crafting Mandalorian armour.
The Beskar ingot drives come in three variants, the M.2 NVMe (500GB or 1TB), 2.5-inch SATA SSD (1TB or 2TB), and external HDD (2TB). Each drive is designed to look like the Beskar ingot as seen in the first season of The Mandalorian Disney+ series, with the Imperial insignia stamped at one corner.
The contents of the packaging include the usual Seagate FireCuda sticker sheets as well as a bonus The Mandalorian sticker sheet. The “This is the way” sticker is definitely our favourite.
If you’re looking to geekify your PC setup, you’ll have to start planning your SATA SSD and NVMe slots now so they can still be visible through the glass panel and not blocked by a graphics card or simply facing the wrong direction. If you’re planning on slotting the M.2 NVMe into your PlayStation 5 console instead, it’s not going to be seen again (visually) once you’ve mounted it in.
For those who have run out of M.2 NVMe slots on your motherboard, there’s always a PCIe to M.2 adapter, but the main downside is, once again, that the NVMe drive will end up facing down and won’t be visible once mounted.
Each drive comes with Seagate’s five-year warranty and three years of Rescue Data Recovery Services, so users can have peace of mind knowing that their data is safe and well taken care of.
The Gen4 NVMe SSD is out now on Amazon and available in 500GB and 1TB sizes. As for the SATA SSD, it is available in 1TB and 2TB sizes. And finally, the external HDD is available in 2TB.
If you live in Singapore, these limited edition SSDs are also available on Seagate’s Lazada and Shopee pages. However, the external HDD is not available just yet.
