Worlds collide once again but this time it’s between Transformers and the G.I. Joe franchise, with the Transformers Collaborative: G.I. Joe Mash-Up, Megatron H.I.S.S. Tank and Baroness. Previous Transformers collaboratives have been with Top Gun, Jurassic Park, X-Men and Back to the Future.
The Cobra H.I.S.S. tank transforms from robot to tank mode in 28 steps, and it comes with a G.I. Joe Retro Baroness figure packed in a retro card back. The figure includes a Cobra backpack, rifle, and display stand while Megatron comes with his fusion cannon (of course).
Talk about going retro, the toy is even accurately scaled to the original 1983 Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank toy, and the box is inspired by the classic ’80s Transformers and G.I. Joe packaging.
The Baroness figure can be seated in the cockpit, in the turret position (both in robot and tank mode), and even stand on the back platform of the tank. Unfortunately, Megatron does run a little on the chunky side, on his back, and his arms are a little short, which restricts his articulation quite a bit.
Other than that, at least the detailing of the printed decals and Cobra insignia are a nice touch, and Megatron’s face sculpt is very reminiscent of the G1 design, which adds to the nostalgic look of the toy.
