Most of us know Twitch as a live streaming platform for games (except maybe Gordon Ramsay). As a natural evolution of the platform, it introduced Twitch Rivals, where streamers compete against each other for leaderboard placements and viewers’ entertainment.
But Twitch doesn’t just want to monopolise your video game attention. It has slowly sent its tentacles into other fields where it could ostensibly plant its mark. One of these is food, or specifically, live streaming of people cooking.
So on 21 May at 2pm SGT, it is launching Twitch Rivals: Streamer Chef Singapore, where nine Singapore Twitch streamers, in teams of three, compete against each other in a live-streamed themed cook-off.
The streamers are /Supercatkei, /spicyuuu, /IzCreamz, /Wolfsbanee, /Sukasblood, /Zumi, /rurusama9, /minxkittyy, and /tanggoz. Interestingly, some of these channels aren’t that food-focused so expect there to be quite a few LOLs along the way.
In preparation for the competition though, the streamers have been putting some level of effort to ensure no epic fails happen on the stream.
For Denise (/Supercatkei), she shared that, “Livestreaming on Twitch has turned from just a hobby to my full-time career, where I get to build an awesome community and make an impact. I’m super excited and honoured to be part of Singapore’s first-ever Twitch Rivals — to show my ‘insane’ cooking skills and to have tons of fun with other streamers.”
Meanwhile, Don (/Sukasblood) has been hard at work this past week, “After putting in at least seven streaming (cooking) sessions leading up to the grand finale, I like to think I’m prepared. If anything, I’m confident I won’t be a burden to my team.”
In Streamer Chef Singapore, they’ll be challenged to put together a three-course meal, and will be judged for the food’s taste and presentation, as well as the groups’ teamwork and communication.
Since it will be a live stream, you as the audience (or chat) can also influence the outcome, by voting in polls to either help or sabotage your targeted team. Such as forcing them to use a mandatory ingredient.
Twitch Rivals: Streamer Chef Singapore starts streaming on 21 May, 2pm SGT at Twitch Rivals, as well as on the participating streamers’ channels.
And before we end, here’s Gordon Ramsay being himself on Next Level Chef.
