‘Tron: Ares’ Trailer Has Lightcycles Wreaking Havoc In the Real World

The opening scene of the trailer seeing two red lightcycles speeding down the highway in the real world being chased by cops is enough to get us hyped for the third entry to the Tron franchise, Tron: Ares. The first film, Tron, was released in July 1982, with a long-awaited sequel Tron: Legacy arriving 28 years later in December 2010. Unfortunately, the sequel didn’t quite live up to expectations and was severely lacking in the action department. However, from the looks of this first trailer, Tron: Ares looks to be not just a visual treat, but also action-packed.

The synopsis for the film released by Disney reads, “Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

Tron: Ares has a star-studded cast, and the full list alongside Jared Leto includes Jeff Bridges (Tron: Legacy, Iron Man), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Hasan Minhaj (The Morning Show), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Arturo Castro (Narcos), and Cameron Monaghan (Gotham), with Gillian Anderson (The X Files).

Tron: Ares opens in cinemas on 10 October 2025.
