Tokyo’s Nintendo Store Opens Up Online Purchase For Exclusive Items

Region-exclusive products is a common issue faced by the shopping community at large, and it’s especially a pity when the gorgeous, beautiful picks remain out of reach. The Nintendo Store in Tokyo, for instance, houses an entire slew of exclusive themed products that are not offered by Nintendo anywhere else –online platforms included – so only visitors to the physical stores could check them out.

That’s set to change, however. Nintendo has opened up part of the Nintendo Tokyo-exclusive selection for online purchase, with the first batch taking on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons aesthetic. True to the game’s relaxing and lifestyle-oriented approach, an array of lifestyle goods have been made available for grabs, such as Isabelle-themed drinkware, bento boxes inspired by K.K. Slider, Timmy, and Tommy, and even a pyjamas set.

The entire catalogue may be viewed over at the Nintendo Japan website, which also includes hand towels, tote bags, thermoses, and slippers. Nintendo has confirmed that this is merely the first wave of Nintendo Tokyo merchandise to go digital, with more planned for the near future.

It’d be even more tempting and exciting if the offer is open to the whole world. Alas, it seems the online purchases are limited to Japanese accounts, with shipping restricted only to residential addresses in Japan. As the industry giant looks to bring more of its treasure trove to the online space, we can only hope that international shipping will eventually become an option. Pretty please, with a cherry on top.
