To Prevent Leaks, Disney Didn’t Make Baby Yoda Toys & Merchandise For 2019

The new Star Wars series The Mandalorian has been a massive hit on Disney+. But what’s an even bigger hit is the adorable little creature fans call ‘Baby Yoda’.

The tiny bundle of joy has stolen the hearts of the internet and the release of its concept art has made it undeniably harder to not love and protect the character at all costs. Fans are demanding for Baby Yoda merchandise and Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, has given us his answer.

In a red carpet interview, Jon said: “I have to thank Disney and Lucasfilm because the way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogues and things like that. So they really back us up.”

“We really wanted to have it be that you had to watch it yourself, so that every time you watch the show, there are new twists and secrets that come out. That requires a lot of restraint from the people who are footing the bill, saying they’re gonna hold back on certain things so that the public doesn’t know ahead of time. Part of that was holding back on some of the merchandise and holding back on some of the characters,” he continued.

So…no.

Sadly we won’t have any Baby Yoda toys or merchandise any time soon to prevent leaks. But what we do know is that there will be merchandise at some point. Maybe next year? We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Till then, we’ll let Disney toy our hearts with these cute Baby Yoda scenes, other Star Wars shows and Boba Fett theories.
