Legendary Pictures has unveiled its first look at The Toxic Avenger starring Peter Dinklage.
The Toxic Avenger is an upcoming remake of the 1984 film of the same name and follows Winston Gooze (Dinklage), a depressed, mild-mannered janitor who works at a health club.
When diagnosed with a terminal illness, Gooze attempts to rob his employer but ends up falling into a vat of radioactive waste and turns into a monstrous hero.
In the first look photo, Dinklage is standing in the dark and holding a radioactive and glowing mop. We can’t see much of his face yet as is covered by smoke, but this is a good tease and leaves space for imagination.
The original Toxic Avenger movie spawned three sequels and an animated series called The Toxic Crusaders. The franchise later spawned a toy line and video games in the 1990s.
The horror-comedy also stars Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Elijah Wood, Sarah Niles, Julia Davis, Julian Kostov and Kevin Bacon. The Toxic Avenger is directed and written by Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore) and is set to premiere on 21 September.
