The Marvel Cinematic Universe may not be exactly flying at the moment, but with many more stories to tell, we will continue to see superpowered folks on the big screen. In the latest trailer for The Marvels, which sees the return of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, it is the first time we see her, Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel, and Captain Monica Rambeau sharing the stage.
Taking place after both WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, the trailer revealed a little more following the post-credits scene in the latter, where Kamala switches places with Carol Danvers. Add Rambeau to the mix along with good old Nick Fury, and we have the makings of a Marvel adventure on the big screen, and possibly more comedy than is required.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.”
The Marvels will be helmed by director Nia DaCosta, which will be her debut project in the MCU. DaCosta will also be the first Black woman to direct a project within the MCU, and sees her as the fourth female director to work within the space.
Other cast members of The Marvels include Park Seo-joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenoiba Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Zawe Ashton. Goose the Flerken also has a role to play. The movie is set to hit theatres on 10 November.
