‘The Boys’ Spin-off ‘Gen V’ Teases Exploding Genitals And Glorious Violence In Blood-Drenched Trailer

Gore is the way to go in Gen V, the upcoming spin-off of the superhero drama series The Boys, and it comes as no surprise at all. The Amazon Prime Video series, after all, is known for its gratuitous use of blood, and it seems the college-based adventure will flow in the same vein.

In fact, it may be presumptuous to call school life an ‘adventure’. While a new trailer for the spin-off does feature some hilarious moments, it also shows how the students of Godolkin University School of Crimefighting — Vought’s school for people gifted superpowers after being exposed to Compound V — aren’t having a fun time. There are exploding genitals, unrestrained bloodshed, merciless killing (at one point, a fist punctures through someone’s skull and comes out of the mouth), and an ominous, daunting warning: “There are dangerous, evil people at that school,” someone says in the trailer.

According to the show’s official synopsis, these students will “put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s highly coveted top ranking. They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed. When the university’s dark secrets come to light, the students must come to grips with what type of heroes they are going to become.”

Jaz Sinclair stars as Marie Moreau, joining an ensemble cast that includes Lizze Broadway (Emma Shaw), Sean Patrick Thomas (Polarity), Chance Perdomo (Andre Anderson), Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips (Cate Dunlap), London Thor and Derek Luh (Jordan), Asa Germann (Sam Riordan), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Golden Boy), and Marco Pigossi (Dr. Edison Cardosa).

Gen V hits Amazon Prime Video on 29 September, and will feature guest appearances from the cast of The Boys, such as Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett, and Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train.

The Boys Spin-off Gen V Trailer

As Godolkin University prepares to open its doors, updates regarding the fourth season of The Boys are currently put on hold. Filming wrapped on 12 April, with showrunner Eric Kripke tweeting earlier that a release date depends on when the Hollywood writers’ strike will end. When things pick back up, there will be plenty of content to expect, such as new superheroes Sister Stage and Firecracker and the “most disgusting thing ever” on TV.
