TGA 2025: Leon S. Kennedy Returns As Second Playable Character In ‘Resident Evil Requiem’

Resident Evil Requiem has been making waves among horror video game fans, and has gotten them riled up when leaks suggest Leon S. Kennedy will be returning for the upcoming sequel. Apparently, the leaks are true, as Capcom released a trailer for The Game Awards 2025, showcasing his appearance as a possible second playable character.

Aside from the usual creepy shenanigans encountered by FBI Analyst Grace Ashcroft and the primary protagonist revealed initially in previous trailers, the new one teased a possible Ingrid Hunnigan (the radio girl from Resident Evil 4), giving Kennedy a brief on a villain Victor Gideon and his connections to a mysterious project “Elpis”. What’s more, the trailer showed gameplay of Kennedy with his iconic hairstyle, his pistol-kick playstyle, and him wielding a chainsaw.

The story of Resident Evil Requiem is set nearly 30 years after Nemesis, and follows Grace Ashcroft as she is dispatched to investigate strange deaths in a hotel in Raccoon City. It is no surprise that Kennedy returns to the place where his nightmares of biohazard combat and weaponry began.

Not much is known about the extent of Leon’s involvement in Resident Evil Requiem or his connections with both Grace and the overarching story. Maybe we will see further appearances of others like Jill Valentine, too, since everything is happening in Raccoon City. Who knows, we only need to play the game on 27 February 2026 on our PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or Switch 2 to find out.
