Survival horror fans have finally received their first extended look at Resident Evil Requiem, with its latest trailer offering a deep dive into the title’s dual protagonist gameplay mix of classic horror tension and adrenaline-fueled action.
As part of the Resident Evil showcase, the thirteen-minute-long trailer covers the game’s two juxtaposing gameplay styles, with game director Koshi Nakanishi taking viewers through how both series newcomer Grace Ashcroft and returning franchise legend Leon Scott Kennedy will play in their individual segments.
As an FBI analyst with little field experience, Grace’s sections aptly lean towards the more classic survival horror experience and give off the same vibes as the second and fourth Resident Evil titles, with scenes showing her sneaking through a zombie-infested hospital with limited resources and ammo, solving environmental puzzles along the way. The trailer also showcased the game’s new crafting system, which requires players to collect blood samples from defeated enemies as resources to make ammo or health items, which offers a layer of risk and reward when approaching encounters, forcing players to decide between conserving precious ammo or risking combat with zombies to gain crafting supplies.

On the flipside, Leon’s sections provide a complete shift in tone, as this time, you are the hunter instead of the hunted, as his gameplay invokes the action seen in titles like Resident Evil 4 or even Resident Evil 6, with Leon overwhelming foes with sheer force, combining parries, close combat finishers and slick gunplay. Leon can also pick up certain dropped weapons, such as a chainsaw, raising the carnage and action even more.
Both protagonists will also be playable in both first-person and third-person perspectives, offering players the choice between immersion and dynamic action, which does make the title more accessible, especially for those newer to the horror genre. In addition, the Resident Evil Requiem will also feature multiple difficulty settings, with lower ones like Casual adding additional aim assist, while harder ones might include classic resource management systems like finding Ink Ribbons in order to save the game, further increasing the title’s flexibility for a wider range of audiences.

Check out the full showcase in the video above, which also covers the game’s collaborations with well-known brands like automaker Porsche or luxury watch company Hamilton, alongside the games Deluxe Edition and pre-order bonuses. Resident Evil Requiem will launch on 27 February 2026 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
