TGA 2022: ‘Hades 2’ Trailer Debuts New Gods & Protagonist

It is always a nice surprise to get a gift seemingly out of nowhere, and at The Game Awards 2022, Supergiant Games did just that with the reveal of Hades 2, the sequel to one of the more beloved and critically acclaimed games in recent memories. That’s right, the god-like rogue-like is coming back for more, and this time, the fight is being taken to titan Chronos.

While details remain scarce on what is actually the main narrative of Hades 2, what we do know is that we are getting a new protagonist as well as more gods joining the fray. Instead of Zagreus, we are introduced to a female lead this time around, clashing swords with her mentor as part of the training.

Naturally, the action remains top-notch, and it is likely fans can expect the same kind of hard-hitting and fast-paced experience in Hades 2 that made waves in the genre when Zagreus attempted to escape his prison. Even with a new protagonist, we are seeing the gameplay formula stay to the tried and tested, although we are sure there will be some pleasant surprises lying in wait.

There are also new gods to meet and likely befriend or make enemies of, with both Apollo and Nemesis making an appearance in the trailer. Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what kind of boons and bonuses they can bestow upon us in the battle against Chronos in Hades 2, especially with what appears to be Hades himself sharing an ominous warning.

Hades 2

If you haven’t had the chance to experience the magic of the original Hades, you probably have a long time to go before Supergiant Games is done with the sequel. That’s a good thing, as by then, you will hopefully be prepared for whatever challenges that come your way.
