Though the Terminator franchise seemingly came to an end in 2019’s Dark Fate, its expansive universe is still ripe for exploring. And soon, fans of the iconic movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger will be able to do so with a new tabletop RPG set in the world of the movies.
The new pen-and-paper role-playing game is currently in development by Scotland-based Nightfall games. While no official press release has been put out, Dicebreaker reports that a free downloadable PDF of the game’s quickstart rules will be available sometime in December. The quickstart document will feature the basic rules, artwork, as well as a basic scenario to get players and game masters familiar with the system and setting.
The Terminator RPG will be developed using the publisher’s S5S system, a d10 (10-sided dice) rules system that used in its other RPG, SLA Industries 2nd Edition. This system was developed to provide goups a “streamlined and cinematic gaming experience” at the table. We imagine this game will definitely go hand-in-hand with the iconic theme by Brad Fiedel, of course.
No official release date or price for the full version of The Terminator RPG has been announced as of yet. But if you’re still on the lookout for tabletop RPGs inspired by popular ’80s movies, maybe check out Alien by Free League Publishing while you’re at it.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
