Taron Egerton Has Met Marvel’s Kevin Feige To Take Over Hugh Jackman As Wolverine

Taron Egerton is interested in playing the role of X-Men’s Wolverine, a role last played by Hugh Jackman.

The star of Rocketman, Kingsman, and the upcoming series Black Bird, has met with Marvel Studios’ executives including its president Kevin Feige about taking on the role of Wolverine. The outcome of the talks has not been disclosed.

Egerton told New York Times that should he get the role, “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.”

“But hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”

Fans have been wondering when the X-Men will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Charles Xavier aka Professor X appearing in the recent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, speculation is that an X-Men movie in the MCU might be happening soon.

Kevin Feige teased in June that fans will be able to see what’s next after Phase 4 of the MCU saga. “I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”

Maybe we’ll know if Taron Egerton, or some other actor, will play Wolverine or whether an X-Men movie will be making its way to the theatres, as soon as Feige decides to share a bit of that roadmap.
