‘Supernatural’ Alum Jared Padalecki And Misha Collins Join ‘The Boys’ Final Season

The fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s satirical superhero series The Boys has added Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins to its list of guest stars, marking a reunition with fellow co-star Jensen Ackles.

Shared via a video on The Boys’ official X/Twitter page, the casting announcement marks a major personal achievement for Eric Kripke, showrunner for both Supernatural and The Boys, who had previously expressed his desire to cast Padalecki in the latter’s fifth season. “I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.” he said during a 2024 interview with Variety, adding that he would even be fine if Padalecki only appeared for a single episode.

Although details on their roles are being kept under wraps for now, the duo joins the show’s already stacked list of Supernatural cast appearances, including the aforementioned Ackles as the villain supe Soldier Boy, who was revealed to have survived his clash with Homelander and Queen Maeve in the mid-credits scene of season 4, alongside other castmate appearances through the series such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler, Jim Beaver as Secretary of Defense Robert Singer and Christian Keyes as A-Train’s brother and former personal trainer Nathan Franklin.

Padalecki and Ackles rose to prominence by playing the brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on the sci-fi drama Supernatural, which debuted on The WB in 2005 before completing a 15-season run through its finale in 2020. Collins joined the cast in season four as the angel Castiel and was a regular on the series until its conclusion.

Season five of The Boys is currently in production, with showrunner Kripke previously teasing “crazy sh-t” in store, which will no doubt provide a proper sendoff to the bombastic superhero series.
