For a show with as many insane twists as The Boys, bizarre occurrences are the new normal, but according to showrunner Eric Kripke, we haven’t even seen how insane the show can get, with “crazy sh-t” that has been discussed for its upcoming fifth season.
The Boys got an early Season 5 renewal ahead of the show’s Season 4 premiere, and a writers’ room is already active, though in early development, and even Kripke has no idea how the season will play out. “I mean, we’re about a month into the writers’ room right now, so we have some pretty cool notions,” said Kripke in an interview with ScreenRant, “It’s a very raw lava-esque deal right now. It hasn’t hardened into anything, but I’m excited. I think there’s some crazy sh-t’s been talked about, that’s for sure.
He remained cryptic about exactly how many seasons the show would get, only saying that “no one in history is worse at predicting the amount of seasons of a show,” with Kripke’s previous project, Supernatural, having a 15-season run.
In the upcoming season, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) discovers a man-made virus that has the ability to kill off supers, as Homelander ramps up his own campaign. There’s plenty going on in the chaotic world of The Boys, and Season 5 could potentially take it to a whole new level.
