‘Superman: Legacy’ Adds Skyler Gisondo As Jimmy Olsen

Superman: Legacy, a feature film by James Gunn, is rapidly assembling its cast with the latest additions being Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced Gisondo’s role as a young photojournalist at The Daily Planet, and Sampaio, a Portuguese model and actor, will portray Lex Luthor’s assistant-turned-mistress.

This announcement follows the recent casting of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan already onboard as Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Skyler Gisondo, known for his roles in The Righteous Gemstones and The Amazing Spider-Man, ventures further into superhero territory with his portrayal of Jimmy Olsen. His previous roles in Booksmart, The Social Dilemma, and Licorice Pizza, along with TV appearances in Santa Clarita Diet and The Resort, have paved the way for this significant step into the newly-rebooted DC Universe.

Jimmy Olsen’s character has a rich history in Superman adaptations, previously portrayed by actors like Marc McClure in the 1970s-1980s Superman films, Sam Huntington in 2006’s Superman Returns, and Michael Cassidy in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as well as Mehcad Brooks in the Arrowverse TV shows. His character has also been a staple in shows like Adventures of Superman, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Smallville.

The film is shaping up to be a major project for DC Studios, with additional cast members such as Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.

Superman: Legacy takes off in theatres on 11 July 2025.
