Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl) And Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific) Join ‘Superman: Legacy’

After finding Superman and Lois Lane in David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, Superman: Legacy has now expanded to cast Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced and Edi Gathegi in their respective superhero roles.

Fillion, who previously played T.D.K in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, will now play Guy Gardner, aka Green Lantern. Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) will play Hawkgirl and Gathegi from For All Mankind will play Mister Terrific.

The introduction of new superheroes in a Superman movie is an interesting move by Gunn, but perhaps the DC Studios co-CEO is planning to hard launch the DC cinematic universe as a formed entity rather than rebuild it one superhero movie at a time. Plus, if there’s one thing we learn from The Suicide Squad is that Gunn the man loves dealing with multiple diverse characters at one go. Gunn has expressed multiple opinions about superhero movies – even calling some movies ‘lazy‘ – so expectations for Superman: Legacy are rather high at this point in time.

Though story details are still kept under wraps, Gunn has shared that the upcoming movie will not include Clark Kent’s origin story.

Superman: Legacy has begun pre-production and is expected to fly into theatres on 11 July 2025. It will kick off the first chapter in Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, titled Gods and Monsters.
