‘Street Fighter 6’ Goes Open-World With Chun-Li Returning Alongside New Faces

Following a less-than-ideal logo reveal and promises of more to come, Capcom has given fighting game fans some good news at the latest State of Play presentation. The first gameplay trailer of Street Fighter 6 is here, and the game will be launching sometime in 2023.

The roster will be one to watch, and the trailer confirms that we will see Chun-Li returning alongside newcomers Jamie, Luke, and Kimberly, in addition to Ryu. The sequel is trying something different as well, with the usual 1v1 fighting modes being accompanied by World Tour, a single-player story mode that allows players to explore an open world and battle.

There are also the Fighting Ground and Battle Hub modes, which Capcom will detail in the coming weeks andmonths.

The fighting is also getting new features, including the Drive system. This new gauge in Street Fighter 6 can be utilised to perform five distinct techniques to enhance either a player’s offensive or defensive capabilities. The techniques are Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Overdrive Art, Drive Rush, and Drive Reversal.

And if you ever wanted to feel the excitement of esports but are not keen on joining the real thing, the new Real Time Commentary Feature will help. This feature will add commentary from popular figures within the community and incorporate them into your matches, giving you a feel of the intense competition.

Street Fighter 6 is being developed using Capcom’s RE Engine, and will arrive in 2023 on PS4 , PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In other Capcom news, we also finally see the confirmation of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
