‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Trailer Spins Record 718M Views In 24 Hours

Peter Parker may be at his lowest point of his life in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, but viewership numbers are at an all-time high. The sub-three-minute clip dethroned reigning champion Deadpool & Wolverine with 718.6 million views in 24 hours, making it the biggest launch in history.

It was barely a fight, too – the trailer took just eight hours to surpass the 365 million views previously set by its Marvel counterpart in 2024, inclusive of the 100-plus million from Super Bowl fans. In comparison, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home reached 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours, and coincidentally, was subsequently outpaced by, you guessed it, Deadpool & Wolverine.

More impressively, the record-breaking milestone goes beyond the realm of TV and movies. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer even toppled the highly anticipated trailer for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI, which racked up 475 million views in 24 hours to become the biggest video trailer ever then.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame, the forthcoming superhero outing reunites Tom Holland’s titular web-slinger with Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds. Franchise newcomers include Sadie Sink, who plays an undisclosed role but is third billing on the cast list, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut, and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers penned the script, while executive producers Louis D’Esposito and David Cain also serve as producers, alongside Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor.

The synopsis for the film reads, “Following Dr. Stephen Strange’s spell at the end of the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. Four years later, Parker anonymously protects New York City as the hero Spider-Man. While investigating a series of crimes, he uncovers a larger mystery and faces the consequences of his past.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theatres on 31 July.
