They will be joined by Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Julian Barratt (Mindhorn), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), and Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso) in recurring roles. Rory McCann, best known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Jumanji: The Next Level, will be making a guest appearance in the series.

The Knuckles series is said to take place between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and its sequel, and will follow Knuckles as he “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.”

Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two Sonic the Hedgehog films, will return to helm the spin-off’s pilot episode as well as executive produce the series. Meanwhile, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 co-writer John Whittington wrote the pilot, and will serve as head writer and executive producer. Brian Schacter (Green Eggs and Ham) and James Madejski (Renfield) will be joining Whittington on writing duties.

The Knuckles series is set to premiere sometime in 2023 on Paramount+. Sonic fans can also look forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is scheduled to hit the big screen on 20 December 2024.
