Sonic 3 Film Is Dashing Ahead, Along With Knuckles TV Spin-Off With Idris Elba Reprising Role

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will have its second live-action movie released in April 2022, and a third movie is already confirmed. Also, Paramount+ will be getting an original Knuckles TV series. Just like in the movie, Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw) will be voicing the iconic red echidna.

However, there isn’t much detail around the project available as yet. As such, it is difficult to tell which direction the story of the series will take, beyond it being focused around the character. The Knuckles series will premiere sometime in 2023 on Paramount+. With the series and the movies in the pipeline, there won’t be a lack of Sonic in the foreseeable future.

The Sonic franchise as a whole came into being back in 1991 with the original Sonic the Hedgehog video game for the Sega Genesis. Knuckles, as a character, started as a rival for Sonic, and is defined by his ability to scale walls using the spikes on his knuckles and glide slowly through the air.

Looks like for fans of the Sonic franchise, there will be a lot of content to look forward to. On the video game front, Sonic Frontiers is slated to be released sometime this year.
