The eagerly awaited Solo Leveling season 2 is set to premiere in January 2025, as announced during this year’s Aniplex Online Fest, where a new key visual was also unveiled. The event provided fans with a fresh glimpse into the upcoming season, which includes never-before-seen scenes featuring the protagonist, Sung Jinwoo.
Solo Leveling, known for its dynamic storytelling and vivid animation, debuted its season 2 teaser at Aniplex Online Fest 2024. The teaser was accompanied by a special message from the voice actors of the main characters, Taito Ban (Sung Jinwoo) and Reina Ueda (Cha Hae-in), who expressed their excitement for the new season.
Additionally, it was revealed that a special edition of season 1 and the first two episodes of Solo Leveling season 2, subtitled ReAwakening, will be screened theatrically in Korea on 28 November and Japan on 29 November, with other countries to follow. This move mirrors the growing trend in anime of releasing director’s cuts and compilation films, highlighted by similar releases like Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train.
The story of Solo Leveling follows Sung Jinwoo, initially the weakest hunter, who gains extraordinary powers after a near-fatal encounter in a high-level dungeon. With his new abilities, he seeks to uncover the mysteries behind the dungeons and his unique skills. The series, praised for its innovative approach to the “level-up” narrative and describes Jinwoo’s journey from the brink of death to becoming a formidable hunter, is streamed by Crunchyroll (which will also be streaming season 2).
Season 2, titled Solo Leveling – Arise from the Shadow, promises more thrilling adventures and darker challenges for Jinwoo as he confronts new enemies and unravels further secrets of the dungeons. The opening song for the season, composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, is titled 4eVR, enhancing the anticipation for what is touted to be a gripping continuation of the saga.
Aniplex Online Fest also teased upcoming developments for other titles like WIND BREAKER and Blue Exorcist, alongside a performance by popular music artist LiSA.
