Solid Snake’s David Hayter Teases More ‘Metal Gear Solid’, Including ‘MGS4′ Revival

A little bit of teasing can go a long way in stirring up hype, and that’s what original Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has been doing to Metal Gear Solid fans. Following a formal announcement of his involvement in a project titled Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series, the iconic artiste dropped yet another tease to set tongues wagging within the community.

“Had a pretty cool meeting the other day…” Hayter posted on X / Twitter, standing next to a model of Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4.

While the update is pretty generic and doesn’t give much away, it has nonetheless gotten fans excited for the future of the franchise. With Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 now out, the post is likely a nod to Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which is reportedly in the works. The bundle will include Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, as indicated by the rumour mill.

In particular, the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4 is worth noting. The 2008 action-adventure title has long remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive, but as part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, it’s expected to land on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch, spelling good news for those who’ve yet to experience Snake’s story.

Metal Gear: Peace Walker was first launched in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable, and later came to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid 5 marked creator Hideo Kojima’s last outing at Konami, who made the decision to recast Snake’s voice actor. The move proved controversial, and saw Keifer Sutherland (24, A Time to Kill) stepping into the role of the iconic mercenary.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Trailer

All things considered, it’s a good time to be a Metal Gear Solid fan. On top of Hayter’s teases, there’s also the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater to look forward to, with its debut trailer showcasing faithful scene recreations, stunning visuals, and plenty of stealth elements.
