Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Review

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves rolled a critical success, earning high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics (91%) and audiences (93%). Despite this acclaim, its box office performance fell short of expectations.

The film, directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, grossed US$208.2 million globally against a US$150 million budget. Paramount CEO Brian Robbins acknowledged the discussions about a sequel but highlighted the need to “make it for less”.

Inspired by the iconic tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons, the film features Pine leading a diverse group of adventurers on a perilous quest. The cast includes notable names like Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. The story revolves around their mission to retrieve a lost relic, facing formidable foes along the journey.

Despite the financial challenges, Pine’s comments indicate that a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is more a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if.’ However, the project still faces significant hurdles before it can officially move forward.
