‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection’ Compiles Classic & Japan-Exclusive Titles To Mark TCG’s 25 Years

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans basked in plenty of nostalgia during the Legend of Duelist Quarter Century anniversary event in Japan, but there’s more to come. Konami has announced the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection for Nintendo Switch and Steam, which brings together the earliest games in the franchise.

The digital bundle is set for a worldwide release, and will include several titles that have previously never been released outside of Japan. So far, only one entry is confirmed — the 2000 Game Boy Colour classic Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists, with no details on price or release date just yet.

As per the Japanese announcement, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2, a 2001 Game Boy Advance title, is expected to join the collection, though its mention is left out in the English press material. It’s likely Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection won’t have a physical release with special edition cards, however cool that’d be, but nothing is official until more information drops at a later date.

This comes after Konami announced the establishment its own anime studio, which debuted its first project, the “Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game The Chronicles” anime short during the 25th-anniversary event. Moving forward, the team plans to develop a wide range of works without being limited to its own IPs, such as Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid. These are popular and successful franchises in their own right, so there’s certainly no shortage of material to work with.
