Singapore’s Lim Yu Beng Has Secret Role In Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ For Netflix

Singapore actor Lim Yu Beng has made the Snyder Cut!

The 57-year-old actor, known for his roles in TV’s Triple Nine and Hollywood’s Anna and the King (1999) is set to appear in Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s upcoming feature film for Netflix, as noted by Deadline, in an undisclosed role.

While focusing on his casting in award-winning Taiwanese filmmaker Tom Shu-Yu Lin’s rom-com Worth the Wait, the article attached Lim’s name to Rebel Moon. The latter’s IMDb page reveals his character to be Heron, but nothing else is known beyond that.

When contacted by Geek Culture, Lim declined to reveal more about the role, citing confidentiality agreements. Alongside his spouse Tan Kheng Hua and fellow actor Chin Han, Lim is one of the few Singapore actors making their mark in Hollywood.

For many in Singapore, Lim is a familiar face on stage and screen. The industry veteran has played leads in acclaimed local films like Singapore Dreaming and Solos, as well as the hit local TV series Triple Nine. It’s not his first international stint, either, with Lim holding supporting roles in 1999’s Anna and the King, and HBO Asia’s Grace.

Announced back in July 2021, Rebel Moon follows a woman with a mysterious past (Sofia Boutella, Star Trek Beyond, Prisoners of the Ghostland), as she teams up with warriors from neighbouring planets to save her peaceful colony from an inevitable invasion. Originally Snyder’s pitch for a Star Wars film, Rebel Moon has been described as a grand fantasy adventure.

The two-part sci-fi adventure is slated for a 22 December release, and also stars Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, Charlie Hunnman, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Bae Doona, and more.

Alongside the two-parter, Snyder will be releasing two cuts of the film, including a longer director’s cut. The first is a version that “everyone can enjoy and watch,” while the other targets adults and Snyder super fans with more extreme, explicit content.
