Sentosa Sandsation: Star Wars Edition officially kicks off a 3-year collaboration between Sentosa Development Corporation and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. Last year, we were treated to the Marvel Edition, so it only made sense to have the beloved Star Wars franchise take the stage this year, with the concluding episode to the Star Wars Saga releasing in cinemas this December.
This year, visitors will be treated to 20 larger-than-life sand sculptures of iconic scenes and characters spanning across the entire saga. Admission to Sentosa is free from August 31 to September 15, so be sure to head down to geek out at the intricately detailed works of art.

Exclusive Star Wars Merchandise Galore
Star Wars fans are in for a treat at the merchandise booth this year. There is a whole slew of exclusive merchandise designed specifically for the event, from patches, tote bags, glow-in-the-dark T-shirts to mini jigsaw puzzles. Here are some highlights from the selection of available merchandise:
If you’re into patches, One Faber Group has whipped up a range of exclusive patches for fans to collect. Each patch costs S$9.90. If one patch simply isn’t enough, the store is having an event-only offer of 3 for S$25, 5 for S$35 and 10 for S$60. Or simply grab a white tote bag with and embroidered Star Wars logo, and received a patch of choice for free.
For jigsaw puzzle lovers, here’s a pair of 108-piece mini puzzles going at S$13.90 each. One puzzle features stylised art from Star Wars Episodes 1, 2, 3 & 4 while the other encompasses Episodes 5, 6, 7 & 8. The finished puzzle will measure in at 153mm x 102mm. Great fun for the whole family!

Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Competition
In addition to the Star Wars sculptures, the 14 international sand sculptors will also be working hard on creating their own unique pieces of art, inspired by the theme of Light & Dark. This till be taking place through the opening weekend from August 30 to September 2. They will be vying for the coveted Gold Shovel prize money of US$5,000. 2nd and 3rd place will receive the Silver and Bronze Shovel valued at US$2,500 and S$1,500 respectively.

There will also be sand sculpting workshops and “live” demonstrations conducted on the event grounds for visitors. These will take place at 11am, 2pm and 5pm daily, on a first-come-first-served basis.
