‘Psycho-Pass: Providence’ Gets Fan Screening In Singapore; Officially Opens End July

Two months after debuting in Japan, Psycho-Pass: Providence is set to grace theatres in Singapore. The animated feature will arrive as a fan screening first on 15 July at GV Plaza, with tickets priced at S$22 for the general public and S$20 for Golden Village members.

According to the event page, each ticket comes with free movie premiums that include one A1-sized poster and one A4-sized L-shaped folder. Reservations are now open, and fans can head over to the official movie listing to make their booking, though slots are very limited.

Following the fan screening, Psycho-Pass: Providence will release for the general crowd on 27 July. It was first announced as part of the Psycho-Pass: 10th Anniversary event, and serves as a prequel to Psycho-Pass 3.

The synopsis for the movie reads, “Akane Tsunemori, chief inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, investigates the death of a professor whose research papers could shake Japan’s government and the Sibyl System to the core.”

Production I.G., the original animation studio for the cyberpunk crime-fiction thriller series, is returning for the project, with Naoyoshi Shiotani, director of the first Psycho-Pass movie, at the helm.

The original Psycho-Pass anime aired in 2012, and was later followed up with a second season in October 2014. In 2019, Psycho-Pass 3 premiered with a different format, where each of its eight episodes having hour-long runtimes. The first anime movie aired in Japan in 2015, and laid the foundation for the Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System trilogy to break into the silver screen in 2019. Psycho-Pass: Providence will be the last film in the series.
