PlayStation State Of Play Feb 2026: ‘God of War Trilogy Remake’, ‘John Wick’, New ‘Castlevania’ & More

PlayStation is the gift that keeps on giving, as it has just concluded its first State of Play showcase of the year, and it was one filled with tons of exciting announcements, from long-awaited franchise revivals like the God of War Trilogy Remake and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, to surprise sequels like Kena: Scars of Kosmora, and even some surprising stealth drops.

Here’s a recap of everything announced at PlayStation’s State of Play for February 2026:

Kena: Scars of Kosmora

Talk about a show starter that no one saw coming, as Ember Lab has announced Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the follow-up to its 2021 smash-hit indie title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Expanding on its predecessor, the sequel continues the adventure of Kena, now an experienced Spirit Guide, as she travels to the mysterious island of Kosmora seeking a cure for her affliction. Expect the same methodical combat and beautifully animated cutscenes, now with more adorable companions and flashy new elemental abilities when the sequel arrives sometime this year.


Ghost of Yōtei Legends

Following in the footsteps of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch’s sequel is also getting a free multiplayer spin-off, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, which will allow up to four players to team up and battle supernatural foes across different modes. The free DLC will be available as a free update on 10 March 2026.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives on PC

Kojima Productions’ delivery simulator sequel Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to arrive on PC on 19 March 2026, bringing additional bells and whistles like unlocked framerates, ultra widescreen support and graphical enhancements like upscaling and frame generation.


4:LOOP

Mike Booth, best known for creating the iconic co-op shooter Left 4 Dead, has unveiled more gameplay details for his upcoming roguelike shooter 4:LOOP, which sees a group of up to four players fighting throughout procedurally generated maps while combating aliens in both third and first-person perspectives, unlocking alien technologies and high-tech abilities along the way.


Pragmata

Capcom’s unique shooter-puzzler Pragmata has received another trailer, this time showcasing more of its sci-fi world, or at least, what is left of it, focusing on the budding relationship between main protagonists Hugh and Diana as they work their way through a seemingly abandoned lunar research station, all while battling all manner of creepy android foes. Pragmata is due out on 24 April 2026.


Resident Evil Requiem

This year is looking great for Capcom, as the studio is getting yet another major release, and soon too, with Resident Evil Requiem, which launches on 27 February 2026. Its latest trailer not only offers yet another look at the Rhodes Hill medical facility seen in the title’s preview, but also includes some surprising info, such as the fact that Leon’s infection is spreading worse than initially thought, and that players will be able to revisit not just Raccoon City, but a destroyed RPD as well. Things are truly coming full circle.


Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered + Legacy of Kain: Ascendance

Fans can once again bear witness to the final chapter in the iconic Legacy of Kain franchise, as a remaster of the fifth game is set to arrive on 3 March 2026, bringing “updated HD visuals, refined controls, and a modern camera.”

In addition, a new Legacy of Kain title in arriving after almost 23 years, and will be a retro pixel sidescroller platformer where players play as Kain in two forms, Raziel, and Elaleth. Legacy of Kain: Ascendance will launch on 31 March 2026.


Saros

Returnal developer Housemarque has revealed more gameplay details for Saros, including its stat enhancement systems and a unique gameplay modifier known as Carcosa Modifiers, which allows players to choose between mutiple mods that can make their lives easier. The catch, however, is that these mods must be chosen concurrently with others on the opposite end of the spectrum, ones that make their experience more challenging, ensuring balance while still offering players a way to tweak the game according to their playstyle. Saros is out on 30 April 2026.


Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

The X-Men is joining the roster in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, bringing Wolverine, Storm, Magik, and Danger when then fighting game launches on 6 August 2026.


Brigandine Abyss

As the next entry in the Fantasy War strategy RPG series, Brigandine Abyss will bring its turn-based battles to a new age when the game launches sometime in 2026.


Dead or Alive 6 Last Round + New Project

First released back in 2019, Dead or Alive 6 will be releasing its definitive addition on 25 June 2026, comprising both standard and free to play editions.

Additionally, the franchise is also celebrating its 30th anniversary with a brief teaser of an upcoming unnamed new project, and judging from the trailers thumbnail, Koei Tecmo certainly understands its target audience, mad respect.


Control Resonant

Remedy Entertainment has released the second trailer for its highly-anticipated genre-bending sequel, Control Resonant, which transforms the gameplay formula from shooter to brawler. Now in the shoes of Dylan Faden, brother to Control’s protagonist Jesse Faden and villain of the first game, players will explore a corrupted version of Manhattan while taking on supernatural foes with the Aberrant, a shape-shifting weapon that can take on numerous forms to fit every playstyle. Expect a mind-bending plot and visceral melee action when the game launches sometime in 2026.


Crimson Moon

Crimson Moon is an upcoming gothic action-adventure RPG arriving in 2026 that pits players in the shoes of a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel hybrid. The game is set to feature replayable levels that pits players against hordes of demons and other undead beasties in soulslike combat, with options to play solo or in co-op.


Beast of Reincarnation

Pokémon developer Game Freak has released the next trailer for its upcoming monster hunting game, Beast of Reincarnation, which has now received a release date of 4 August 2026.


Neva: Prologue

As a prequel to the 2024 game, Neva: Prologue will tell the tale of how protagonist Alba first met the white wolf cub Neva, earning each others trust and combating foes as they navigate the blighted wilds. The game will launch on 19 February 2026.


Yakoh Shinobi Ops

Yakoh Shinobi Ops is an upcoming isometric stealth game which sees up to four players taking on a group of ninjas as they “survey terrain, track enemy patterns, and plot the perfect route to complete your mission.” The game launches in 2027.


Project Windless

KRAFTON Montréal Studio is taking some cues from the Warriors franchise with their upcoming single-player open-world action RPG, Project Windless, which is set in the universe of the Korean fantasy novel series The Bird That Drinks Tears and sees players face overwhelming odds as a bird-like Rekon warrior.


Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Now this is pod racing. Star Wars: Galactic Racer will bring high-stakes racing and run-based gameplay when it launches sometime in 2026.


007 First Light

Witness the beginning of a legend with 007 First Light, with the game’s latest trailer offering a better glimpse at how Bond earned his title, complete with nore snippets of stealth, action, and a whole lot of explosions. The game is due out on 27 May 2026.


Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2

Konami is rounding off the revival of its classic Metal Gear Solid titles with a second collection of games, which includes 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and 2010’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, alongside packing in the 2000 Game Boy title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (commonly known as just Metal Gear Solid outside of Japan) for good measure. The second collection drops on 27 August 2026.


Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Castlevania, Konami has announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a brand-new stylised 2D game that blends old-school action and modern features. The game is due out sometime in 2026.


Silent Hill: Townfall

Following the success of last year’s Silent Hill f, Konami is keeping the psychological survival horror train moving with its next title, Silent Hill: Townfall, which not only introduces a new protagonist named Simon Ordell who returns to a foggy town (not that one) named St. Amelia, but also transforms the franchises usual third-person action into a more visceral first-person perspective, meaning the title is sure to feature some of the franchise’s most in-your-face scares when it launches sometime in 2026.


Rev. Noir

Hailing from Konami, Rev. Noir is an upcoming JRPG set in a world plagued by a deadly phoenomenon known as lightfall, which brings death to those it touches.


Untitled John Wick game

As perhaps one of the bigger surprises of the showcase, Saber Interactive have announced its partnership with Lionsgate to bring the Baba Yaga to the video game world, securing the likeness of Keanu Reeves in their upcoming John Wick game. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much, it does include brief snippets of third-person combat, which looks to be as visceral and gritty as fans of the movies expect, featuring a “distinct gun fu combat system” with “jaw-dropping camerawork”.


Marathon

Bungie has shared a new look at its upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter Marathon, which launches on 5 March 2026. Those interested can also take part in its Server Slam preview weekend from 26 February to 2 March.


Big Walk

House House, the minds behind the indie darling Untitled Goose Game, has unveiled their next project, the open-world co-op puzzler Big Walk, which, like its name suggest, consist of a lot of walking, as well as a lot of talking, requiring players to communicate with each other in various ways to overcome each challenge. It looks like a goofy chill time that can easily turn into a chaotic mess, which is exactly what the studio is known for. Big Walk is due out sometime in 2026.


God of War Trilogy Remake + God of War Sons of Sparta

The showcase didn’t just start with a surprise, it ended with one too, with Santa Monica Studios announcement that it will be remaking the first three titles in its lauded God of War brawler franchise, and while nothing was revealed apart from its existence, OG Kratos voice actor TC Carson made an appearance in the trailer to break the news. The project is still in its very early stages, but Carson has teased that its proper reveal will be “something big”, so finger’s crossed we get to see something this year.

But wait, that wasn’t all, as Santa Monica had one last surprise up their sleeve with the announcement of a retro 2D side-scrolling God of War prequel, Sons of Sparta. Developed by Mega Cat Studios, the game will follow the adventure of Kratos long before he became a God killer, featuring a canon story set in his youth during his brutal training at the Spartan Agoge alongside his brother Deimos. Best of all, the game is available now on the PS5, so fans can try their hand at the genre-bending God of War while they wait in anticipation for more news of the remake trilogy.
