Owndays Gets In On Mobile Suit Gundam’s 40th Anniversary With New Glasses Case

40 years is a long time for any anime/manga series. But if there’s anyone in the market who can last that long and still retain a humungous fanbase, it’s got to be Mobile Suit Gundam. From sneakers, Seiko watches, an Oppo phone, and even a Hello Kitty crossover, the 40th anniversary of the beloved mecha anime series is in full swing.

But it doesn’t stop there. This time, Japanese eyewear maker Owndays has also joined in on the fun, with the announcement of a new RX-78-2 Head Glasses Case, as well as an accompanying frame series to go with it.

The glasses case is a 1:7 scale model of the head of the iconic original Gundam piloted by Amuro Ray. Its design is immaculate, and is perfect for any hardcore Mobile Suit Gundam fan. However, it’s not just for display; it also features various compartments on the sides, back and even on the eyes, for holding eyewear.

Additionally, there’s a little button at the base that suggests that the eyes can be lit up.

The frames that come with the set come in stainless steel, and are decked out in the colours of the RX-78-2, the Dom Trooper and the Zaku Mobile Suits.
