Oscar Isaac To Star In The Great Machine, Based On Brian K. Vaughan’s Ex Machina Comic

Oscar Isaac is headlining the Ex Machina movie. No, not the one that he’s already starred in 2015 – which by the way, is not the same as this upcoming Ex Machina movie.

Renamed to The Great Machine, the movie is based on Brian K. Vaughan and Tony Harris’ award-winning comic book Ex Machina. Completely unrelated to Alex Garland’s 2014 thriller.

Yeah, it’s confusing, we know.

The Great Machine will be centred around Mitchell Hundred, a former superhero who has the power to speak with machines. Hundred was elected mayor of New York City post the terrors of 9/11. The story will weave together Hundred’s past as a superhero and how he deals with his role as mayor and politics.

Isaac has played the role of a mayor (Show Me A Hero) and has dabbled in superhero films (X-Men: Apocalpyse), making him a good fit to play Hundred. Isaac will also produce the movie with his manager Jason Spire. Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel will write the script.

Apart from The Great Machine, Isaac recently closed Skywalker saga as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will be playing Duke Leto Atreides in Dune, set to release in November 2020.
