OPPO Find X8 Series Steps Into Flagship Arena With S$1,249 Launch Price

Returning to global markets after two years, the OPPO Find X8 series is the latest talk of the tech town – and for good reason. The Hasselblad-branded camera system may be its crown jewel, but the devices are still able to hold their own in other areas, offering another flagship alternative for users.

Announced during a launch event on 21 November held in Bali, Indonesia, the base model will be available in Singapore at the launch price of S$1,249 (U.P S$1,349), while the OPPO Find X8 Pro comes in at S$1,499 (U.P. S$1,649). Each handset carries 28GB of RAM (16GB + 12GB expansion) and 512GB of storage, alongside the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, ColorOS 15, 50-megapixel shooters, and more.

Like before, the camera system is housed in a circular cutout on the rear. There are some display differences between the OPPO Find X8 and its Pro sibling, measuring 6.59 inches and 6.78 inches respectively, such as bezel size and resolution output (1,256 x 2,760 with 446 PPI versus 1,264 x 2,780 with 450 PPI), but both deliver a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

The phones also tout OPPO’s triple prism periscope camera with a flagship 50MP, 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT600 sensor, with the Find X8 boasting a 15mm (0.6x), 24mm (1x), and 73mm (3x) mix. A quad-camera setup is fitted on the higher-end Find X8 Pro, adding a 135mm (6x) option for further-reaching zoom and a larger 23mm wide-angle sensor.

Other notable photography features include AI Telescope Zoom for high-quality photos at up to 60x, Lightning Snap, which captures a burst of photos at up to seven frames per second with a long press of the shutter button, and Livephoto, offering movie-grade dynamic range and stabilisation in every clip.

According to the Chinese giant, CPU and GPU performance on the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro are 35 percent and 41 percent faster, respectively, courtesy of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. Each device also runs a customised cooling system, designed to improve heat dissipation for intensive tasks like gaming or video editing.

Touch to Share is a key addition here, enabling one-tap wireless file-sharing between iOS / iPadOS and ColorOS 15 devices using NFC. The feature is similar to Apple’s AirDrop and activates when supported models are in contact with one another, making it more convenient to transfer and receive media.

Users will have several nifty AI capabilities at their disposal, too. AI Clarity Enhance, for instance, transforms a low-resolution photo or cropped image into a sharp, ultra-HD image, while AI Unblur restores natural details, colours and textures in action or unfocused shots. AI Eraser now offers enhanced object detection and generative fill, with AI Reflection Remover eliminating glare and reflections in photos.

Similar to most offerings on the current market, OPPO’s newest lineup is equipped with AI-powered tools for productivity, such as AI Summary, AI Speak, AI Reply, AI Writer, and AI Assistant for Notes, which restructures and streamlines content in an instant, and corrects spelling, grammar and tone at the same time.

The Find X8 and Find X8 Pro pack a battery capacity of 5,630mAh and 5,910mAh respectively. The base model is available in Star Grey, Space Black, and Shell Pink, and the latter, in Pearl White and Space Black. The phones will retail for S$1,249 and S$1,499 at launch, and customers who make a purchase can look forward to limited-time launch offers, including a complimentary OPPO X MAISON KITSUNE phone case (while stocks last), OPPO Enco Air4 earbuds, two-year screen damage protection, and two-year global warranty, until 31 December.
