Oculus Quest 2’s Experimental 120Hz Patch Releases In March

In the latest The Quest platform roadmap, news of a 120Hz Refresh Support is slated for release in March 2021.

A 120Hz refresh rate in the Oculus Quest 2 will rival the Valve Index out of the box even though this patch is currently still stated as an “experimental” feature with “medium” confidence of sticking to its release date. Both the VR headsets are definitely on a close par as the Valve Index can still push its refresh rate further to 144Hz with its own experimental mode.

The road map indicated that “This release offers experimental support for 120Hz refresh rates only for apps that support it. The feature will happen in two parts: API support for devs, Experimental Settings toggle to enable 120Hz and user being able to toggle 120Hz for supported apps.”

Despite being of only “medium” confidence, it’s still hopeful to see the upcoming feature and its potential to pit its fight against the Valve Index.

Besides that, there are also rumours of an Oculus Quest Pro, one that will match or even surpass the Valve Index certainly.

The Oculus Quest 2 is currently now available on Amazon for S$429.28 (Singapore) and US$299 (US).
