‘Ocean’s 11’ Prequel To Reunite Barbie’s Margot Robbie And Ryan Gosling

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling danced the night away to an all-time high gross for Warner Bros. with Barbie, so it’s no surprise the studio is looking to repeat the feat. The upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel movie will reunite the power duo on the big screen, with director Jay Roach (Recount, Game Change) and writer Carrie Solomon tapped for the project.

Gerta Gerwig Barbie New Box Office Record

Not much else is known about it, and producer Josey McNamara revealed things are currently being kept under wraps. “I can’t really say much,” said the LuckyChap Entertainment executive to Games Radar in an exclusive interview. “But I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.”

McNamara co-founded the company along Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Sophia Kerr. LuckyChap produced the Greta Gerwig-helmed Barbie, and will also be backing the Ocean’s 11 prequel. Moving forward, he hopes to see more Robbie-Gosling collaborations in the future (same sentiments here, my guy).

“They are wonderful together,” he added. “The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.”

The Ocean’s 11 prequel will be the first entry in the line-up since Ocean’s 8 in 2018, led by Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. The story is expected to take place in 1960s Europe, away from the Las Vegas setting that has been carried over from the original 1960 heist film to the George Clooney-fronted trilogy of the early 2000s. New York City, meanwhile, was the location of choice for Ocean’s 8.

No release date has been set for the upcoming film. As for Barbie, the comedy first opened on 20 July this year, and is currently available on digital platforms, as well as in theatres.
