After months and months of radio silence, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have finally lifted the lid on more juicy updates on their upcoming action-RPG hybrid, Nioh 2. There will be a closed alpha test exclusively for the PS4 starting May 24 through June 2.
No official registration page regarding the alpha is available, so that could only mean Team Ninja is handing out invitations for the Nioh 2 closed alpha to selected testers only.
In any case, the new gameplay footage should keep our eyes peeled for the next update from Team Ninja.
The sequel to the 2017 dark fantasy title set in Feudal Japan has been a long time coming. Having first been teased at E3 2018, we were excited to see the new direction this Souls-like title is going.
From ditching the main character William to a fully-customisable playable character (an inverse to what Souls-like pioneers FromSoftware did for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, interestingly) to the ability to transform into an oni (demon), Devil May Cry V style, to an increased difficulty all around, Nioh 2 promises a much more intensive gameplay experience.
Nioh 2‘s official release date has yet to be announced. We can expect the devs and publisher to do so at a later date.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
