Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup Teased At CES 2025, Specs And Release Date Leaked

Gaming accessories maker Genki has shown off an alleged mockup of the Nintendo Switch 2 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, not only claiming that it is based on the real deal but also leaking its release month and technical specifications.

Based on a behind closed doors look at CES reported by Numerama and Netzwelt, Genki is able to show off any third-party accessories in advance without breaking any contracts as the manufacturer is not in an official partnership with Nintendo, sharing that eight such accessories have been developed so far, with plans for a release in April to coincide with the alleged launch of the Switch 2.

According to Genki and earlier leaked images of the upcoming console’s Joy-Con, they will now include larger SL and SR buttons compared to its predecessor, ditching the slide lock method currently used in favor of electromagnetic suction controllers. In addition, a sensor in the middle of the device seems to allude to the inclusion of 3D gesture-controlled inputs, although its actual use is pure speculation for now.

Genki has also published a video on its website, showing off how the Joy-Con connections would allegedly work, alongside various accessories such as its docking station, magnetic controller charging station and the ability to swap out grips for a more natural fit in a user’s palms.

The images are just the latest in a wave of leaks concerning Nintendo’s next-generation console, such as a published 2023 patent describing the use of AI image upscaling technology, alongside images on Reddit of the alleged console, including a specifications list which mentions that the console would come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

With this being the biggest Switch 2 leak so far, Nintendo’s official announcement and release of its next console seems to be on the horizon, with some game developers even teasing that their upcoming releases would be launched on the platform. Whether the Switch 2 will drop during Genki’s leaked April release month though, still remains to be seen.
