Netflix’s ‘Alice in Borderland’ Season 3 Resumes Battle Royale Action Sep 2025

Squid Game is set to end this June, but it won’t be long before the battle royale fever hits Netflix again. The streamer has unveiled a first look at Season 3 of Alice in Borderland, alongside a firmed-up release window of September 2025.

Balatro, is that you?

“You’re not ready for the final game,” reads the official announcement post on X/Twitter, accompanied by the teaser art. In it, three figures are seen on a rooftop as they look up at a large Joker card in the sky — a callback to the end of the second season that alluded to a new and mysterious mastermind pulling the strings.

A sizzle reel teasing upcoming Netflix releases in Japan shows off a little bit more, starting with the return of Kento Yamazi and Tao Tsuchiya as main protagonists Arisu and Usagi, respectively. “Won’t you return to that beautiful world?” asks an enigmatic voice, before cutting to brief glimpses of new games. Cue explosions, train collisions, and Arisu’s closing statement: “We’ve cleared all the games of the card suits, but the Joker is the only one whom we haven’t fought.”

Alice in Borderland Season 3 was first announced in 2023, but it’s unclear how the story will proceed as the sophomore outing completed the original manga’s run. Set in an abandoned version of Tokyo, the work created by Haro Aso follows Arisu, who’s forced to compete in life-threatening challenges controlled by an unknown force with other residents. Each game corresponds to one of the four suits in a standard 52-card deck, and those who fail are decimated by lasers from the sky.

The second season proved to be a strong outing for Netflix, becoming its most-watched Japanese series at the time of release with 61.2 million viewing hours over its premiere weekend. Season 3 is scheduled to air worldwide this September.
