Joe Goldberg is back for one final act, and this time, the world is watching. Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for You Season 5, setting the stage for Joe’s most precarious chapter yet.
After years of reinvention, obsession, and murder, the psychological thriller is preparing to close the book on its chilling protagonist. Created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, You has spent four seasons following Joe’s evolution from quiet bookstore manager to an unrelenting predator who seamlessly blends into society. The final season jumps three years ahead from the London-set events of Season 4, placing Joe in New York City once again, only this time, he’s got more to lose than ever.
Joe, now married to Kate Lockwood, has secured a privileged life under the protection of the Lockwood empire. With money, status, and his son back in his life, he appears to have everything he once convinced himself he wanted. However, true to form, old habits prove hard to break. The trailer introduces a new character, Bronte, played by The Handmaid’s Tale star Madeline Brewer, who quickly becomes the object of Joe’s attention. Despite his attempts at maintaining control, he finds himself drawn to yet another woman, repeating the patterns that have defined his violent past.
While Joe plots to protect his perfect new life, external forces threaten to shatter the illusion. Kate’s sister, Raegan Lockwood, played by Anna Camp, poses a significant challenge, seeking to dismantle Kate’s influence within the family’s business empire. Meanwhile, enemies from previous seasons resurface, with the trailer revealing that Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman), last seen trying to expose Joe, has been imprisoned. Joe, in turn, finds himself back in familiar territory: locked inside his infamous glass cage, drugged, and seemingly at the mercy of someone who knows exactly who he is.

The final season presents an increasingly volatile situation. On one side, Joe is willing to kill again to maintain the life he has built with Kate. On the other, those who have been hurt by his actions appear determined to ensure he finally pays for his crimes. His newfound public status offers protection, but the cracks in his carefully curated life are beginning to show.
With You approaching its endgame, the question of whether Joe will finally be held accountable remains unresolved. His ability to slip through the cracks of justice has been a defining trait, but with so many enemies converging at once, survival may not be as simple this time. Given how Season 4 redefined expectations by making Joe more self-aware of his nature, Season 5 has the opportunity to deliver an unpredictable conclusion.
You Season 5 premieres 24 April on Netflix.
