Nintendo fans, start your engines! LEGO has unveiled a new Mario Kart set aimed at adult builders, Mario & Standard Kart (72037), which consists of almost 2,000 pieces and will arrive on 15 May this year.
As seen on the LEGO store, the set is now available for pre-order and will clock in at 1,972 pieces. Due to the complexity of the build, the product is designed for display and decoration rather than play, featuring posable head and arms alongside a stand to display it at dynamic angles. As the product page describes, “[The] building kit is part of a large assortment of LEGO Sets for Adults designed for people who enjoy hands-on creative activities to relax”.

The set certainly seems to be aimed at an older demographic of LEGO builders, boasting intricate details such as the rounded bumper of the Standard Kart, a proportionally accurate Mario and even fully modelled fingers and hair. The set is rather large too, measuring at 22 x 32 x 19cm, a huge step up compared to LEGO’s previous 174-piece Standard Kart set.
This marks LEGO’s latest collaboration set with the iconic Nintendo video game franchise, with multiple crossover sets released over the years spanning from interactive play sets like the Adventures with Super Mario line and its numerous expansions, to more advanced options for adult collectors such as the 2,807-piece The Mighty Bowser set and more recently, the 1,215-piece Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi display model.
The LEGO Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart is now available for pre-order at US$169.99, and will launch on 15 May 2025.
