Eddie Murphy Still Wreaking Havoc In Netflix’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Trailer

Netflix has officially unveiled the trailer for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, marking the return of Eddie Murphy as the charismatic Axel Foley. This much-anticipated sequel, set to premiere is the first instalment in the franchise since 1994. Directed by Mark Molloy (Apple at Work – The Underdogs) and scripted by Will Beall (Bad Boys: Ride or Die), Tom Gormican, and Kevin Etten (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent), the film promises to deliver action-packed sequences mixed with Murphy’s renowned comedic flair.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F not only brings back Murphy but also reunites him with original cast members Judge Reinhold as Lt. Billy Rosewood, John Ashton as the now-retired Sgt. John Taggart, Bronson Pinchot as Serge, and Paul Reiser as Det. Jeffrey Friedman. Joining the ensemble are newcomers Taylour Paige as Axel’s daughter Jane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his new partner Detective Bobby Abbott, and Kevin Bacon as Beverly Hills PD Captain Cade Grant.

The trailer showcases Foley back in action in the iconic 90210 zip code, teaming up with both old friends and new partners to unravel a conspiracy threatening his daughter’s life. With action scenes that include helicopter crashes and snowplough antics, the trailer hints at the high stakes and humour fans can expect.

Produced by Eddie Murphy alongside Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick) and Chad Oman, the film aims to recapture the essence of the original series while introducing fresh elements. The inclusion of major action sequences and the return of beloved characters are designed to draw in both long-time fans and new viewers.

“Eddie’s such an incredible artist. He can do drama, he can do comedy – he can do anything. And he’s the same Axel Foley,” Bruckheimer said in a Netflix Tudum article. “He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously with age you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye.”
