Get ready for another close encounter with extraterrestrial life in 2026 from Steven Spielberg, whose newest UFO movie landed a summer 2026 release date, in a surprise announcement from Universal.
Spielberg hasn’t made a movie about extraterrestrial life in 50 years since Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, both of which proved to be box office hits, making his new film highly anticipated by science fiction enthusiasts. The weekend slot on 15 May had been reserved for an ‘original event film’ before the announcement, which stirred up quite the buzz on which film would take that slot, and now, the curtain has been lifted.
No plot details or cast have been announced yet, but with the film’s timeline, production and cast announcements are expected to surface soon. The venture marks a reunion with screenwriter David Koepp, with whom Steven Spielberg created the blockbuster hit Jurassic Park in 1993 and collaborated on War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Steven Spielberg’s UFO movie is set to land in cinemas on 15 May 2026.
