Going into 2024 means a fresh start to gaming, and PlayStation‘s got plenty of adventures lined up for the year. In a trailer teasing upcoming releases, the hype for two of Konami‘s classic titles has been reignited: Silent Hill 2 Remake and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
While there are a lot of entries with established release dates, such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Dragon’s Dogma 2, the former is a notable update as a release window for Silent Hill 2 Remake has never been announced. The game is set to be a full recreation of Hideo Kojima’s horror gem, with developer Bloober Team assuring fans that there won’t be story changes.
“We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernised Silent Hill 2,” chief marketing officer Anna Jasińska said in January 2023. “Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us missing the point while we’re livening up the title.
“We faithfully stick to the traditional story canon while remaking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up. These are the reasons why Konami entrusted us with the remake in the first place.”
Likewise, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake — officially titled Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (the Δ is pronounced delta) — also promises to be a faithful retelling of the original 2024 game. Previously confirmed with an unannounced date, the upcoming title received its first teaser last year, showing off glorious stealth and stunning visuals. It will supposedly implement original voice acting featuring David Hayter, who lent his voice to Snake, as well. However, it’s unclear how that’ll exactly be worked into the remake itself.
