Straight out I will say that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did not live up to my expectations. Perhaps it just has got to do with all the superhero action on the big screen that makes the small screen cousin fall flat.
We all know that they live in a universe where superheroes exist so perhaps it just has got to be that the characters within the show are just so…ordinary. I’m not hating on ordinary folks; if DC could do an amazing comic revolving the GCPD, I can’t see why the writers of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are unable to do the same.
The only way I see Disney/Marvel saving this franchise is to release more teasers, more tie-ins and that will satiate the fan base, like myself, till the next movie trailer release.
My gut feel that while Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might be an underperformer for telly, it will remain a key franchise in the bigger picture. After all, how often are we able to get a live action show in a continuous universe? The Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series did pretty well but that’s for the kiddo demographic but has surprisingly good writing (honest!)
From what I have been hearing from the ground, it seems to me that the season break might have done the series good. With Captain America 2 coming up, I’m pretty sure Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be just one of the additional vehicles used to promote the movie.
